Calcworkshop Review - Emily Riccio (Biology Major)
After I found Calcworkshop, I felt like I was on top of the world in math. I knew what was going on, I knew how to do all the problems, and I just felt, I felt really, really confident.
My name is Emily. I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor's of Science in Integrated Biology.
Growing up, I was always pretty good at math. I, you know, I could really excel in algebra, and I felt very confident in it.
Then once I got to pre-calculus, things started to get a little bit tougher for me. Once trigonometry got involved, that's when things really started to be like, oh, you know, I need to really sit down and I need to study for this.
And I knew that calculus at my school was notoriously very hard. I knew that it was considered to be a weed-out class, and I knew that having had almost a four-year gap of math classes, that I was going to not be doing too well.
So those first two or three weeks of class, you know, I sat in the back of the room, not really knowing what was going on, just hoping that my notes would make sense later when I went back to look over them.
And, you know, I was, I was the last person to raise my hand to give an answer. You know, I'd somehow get a different answer than everybody else in the room.
You know, I never wanted to be the one to say what I got. And then once I started doing the Calcworkshop videos, that was when I started to gain some confidence.
And I realized, you know, I knew what I was doing, and I felt confident enough to raise my hand and give a correct answer.
And I also noticed that some of the ways that I was doing things, from how Jenn had explained in the videos, was actually a lot simpler than what I was learning in my class.
So not only was I raising my hand to give the answer, but I was doing it quicker than everyone else in my class. So I was the first one to raise my hand, not just raising my hand.
I actually did have a few of my classmates, and they would, they asked me, they said, "How do you, how do you know how to do this already? You know, we've covered two, two examples.
How in the world are you finishing these so quickly? How do you know what's going on?" And I'd tell them, "Listen, I do Calcworkshop, and it's absolutely amazing.
I was like, take all these notes." And I'd end up sharing notes with my friends, too. And I was sitting there, and I was explaining to my friends how to solve these problems that, if you would have asked me two weeks prior how to do, I would have looked at you and probably laughed a little bit.
The videos actually followed almost exactly the path that I was covering in class, which was very helpful because I kind of knew what videos to look at prior to my lectures so that I could stay on track.
But I would say that the videos would go into a lot more depth than what my lectures would go into. And every night before my lecture, I would watch the Calcworkshop videos that were going to be covered.
I'd go to class, and I would just kind of repeat that cycle. And that's what really helped me to succeed.
I wish that I had found Calcworkshop a few weeks sooner. I think that it was just absolutely fantastic. It's like having your favorite professor every single day for class.
And being able to watch and learn from her and know that this is someone who wants me to succeed in calculus. It's a great feeling. It really is.

So watching Jenn’s videos first helped so much, and it improved my grades a lot and made me go into the class feeling a little more confident and less scared. I was really surprised to see that Jenn provided exercises after each video, which you don’t find on UA-cam videos. That turned out to be really helpful. I never would have thought that someone would think of doing this. By the time I sta...

Jenn has a very engaging personality, so she made things easy for me. Besides making things fun and interesting, she also gives you plenty of practice problems, which I also wanted and needed so I could actually understand what was going on. With every explanation she gives, you will actually understand what you’re doing, which is amazing because then you actually enjoy what you’re doing. I kno...
Calcworkshop Review - Catherine Stiens (Accounting Major)

As soon as I opened up Calcworkshop, it was extremely straightforward, and I had no trouble finding the sections that I needed. And I could also see the videos were a reasonable length of time. I made sure it covered all the Calculus topics I needed and noticed it had Algebra and Precalculus, too, which was great since I’d probably need to review some of those topics that I’d forgotten 15 years...
Point Slope Form [Algebra] - 17 Power Packed Examples!
Переглядів 7 тис.6 років тому
While there are several ways to write an equation of a line, there is one method that is far better than the rest: Point-Slope Form! Why? Because the Point-Slope Equation is the universal equation for writing equations, and it is all-encompassing. It doesn't matter what you are given, a point and a slope or just two points because it is uniquely designed to handle even the trickiest of problems...
Reduced Row Echelon Form - #1 Skill in Linear Algebra
Переглядів 177 тис.7 років тому
Reduced Row Echelon Form or RREF is the skill you MUST know for Linear Algebra. Why is it so important? Because every topic covered in Linear Algebra requires you to row reduce a matrix. Row Reduction allows us to solve systems of equations quickly and easily and enables us to determine linear independence, orthogonality, vector spaces, and so much more. Trust me, just by knowing how to row red...

U Substitution for Integrals
Переглядів 47 тис.9 років тому
Integration by Substitution is a technique where you rewrite the integrand (the function we are trying to integrate) in a such a way that makes it easier for us to evaluate. This technique can be used when the integrand is a product of some function and its derivative. By replacing the function with a new variable, u, and also replacing the "dx" with a "du" we are able to transform an integral ...

I actually had the pleasure of having her as my calc teacher in high school and can say, without a doubt, that she was among the best teachers I’ve ever had. She was so good, in fact, that I watched this video about calculus even though I will never take another calculus class. Glad to see she is helping so many other students to understand and love math

Why is it that I took Calc 1 and calc 2 but never learned implicit differentiation. Nothing about this method even remotely rings a bell. I'm kind of irritated about it actually. And it's absolutely not because I was a bad student or lazy or anything. I got A's in both courses and never missed a lecture. I'll have to go back and check my notes from 9 years ago (yes, I saved all of my notes from any courses that were important to me) to check if I just forgot about it.
